Sarcomas are rare, difficult-to-diagnose, and hard-to-treat cancers that can affect people of any age, accounting for up to 20% of all adolescent cancers. These cancers originate from different tissue types, resulting in many subtypes, such as gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), liposarcomas, and leiomyosarcomas. They often grow undetected until they reach an advanced stage. This highlights the urgent need for early diagnosis, which can significantly improve treatment outcomes and survival rates.

Continued research and the development of new treatments are essential in the fight against this diverse group of rare cancers. Scientists, industry professionals, patient advocacy groups, and physicians can work together to change the “no treatments, no cure, and no research” status. A key step is securing funding to fuel research and development activities.
